Anthony Berger takes the Lincoln "Penny Profile" photograph at Mathew Brady's Gallery. Lincoln was also photographed with his son Tad at this sitting.

Civil War photographer Samuel Weaver is run over by a rail car and killed. Weaver's funeral service was held at St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg two days later. His remains were interred in Gettysburg's Evergreen Cemetery.
